The American wheeled Armored Personnel Carrier
M1126 Stryker
The M1126 Stryker is an American 8×8 wheeled Armored Personnel Carrier. It was developed towards the end of 1990 by General Dynamics Land Systems Canada. The M1126 Stryker was put into service in 2002.
The M1126 Stryker was developed based upon the Canadian LAV-III Kodiak and the mechanics of the Piranha III armored vehicle. The M1126 Stryker has a RWS M-151 Protector radio controlled turret that can be fitted with the M2HB 12.7mm heavy machine gun or the 40mm Mk-19 automatic grenade launcher.
A large range of armored vehicles have been developed using the frame of the M1126 Stryker. All versions of the Stryker are currently used by the American Army’s BST brigade, Brigade Combat Team.
