The Russian armored infantry fighting vehicle BMD-1
The BMD-1 is a Russian armored infantry fighting vehicle destined for paratrooper units. It was developed in the Soviet Union during the 80’s by Kourganmachzavod. The BMD-1 was put into service in 1985.
The BMD-1 is developed to equip paratrooper units with an armored vehicle of identical capabilities to the BMP-1 Infantry Fighting Vehicle. The BMD-1 can be dropped by parachute.
