The German wheeled Armoured Personnel Carrier Boxer
The Boxer is a German 8×8 wheeled armoured personnel carrier. It was developed in the years 2000 by ARTEC, a common society between KMW and Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles, with participation from Dutch industrials. The Boxer entered into service within the German army in 2009 and the Dutch army in 2014.
The Boxer has a modular structure. The frame, with the motor compartment and the pilots post, can be fitted with different modules. At the heart of the German Army, the Boxer was deployed in Afghanistan in the summer of 2011. The Boxer is proposed for exportation with different weapons and equipment configurations.
The German army has ordered 272 Boxers in four versions: Driver Training vehicle, Command Post, Ambulance and the Armoured Personnel Carrier.
The Netherlands have ordered 200 units of the Boxer in 5 different versions: Driver Training vehicle, Command Post, Ambulance, Cargo and Engineering vehicle.
