The Italian armored infantry fighting vehicle Dardo
The Dardo is an Italian armored infantry fighting vehicle. It was developed in the 80-90’s by Iveco Defence Vehicles and Oto Melara under the name VCC-80, Veicolo Corazzato da Combattimento – Armored Fighting Vehicle. The Dardo entered into service in 2002.
The Dardo is developed to replace the M113 armored personnel carrier in the Italian Armed Forces. It is armed with a 25mm Oerlikon KBA canon and a coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun. The Italian army is the sole user of the armored infantry fighting vehicle Dardo.
